My research generally focused on Mars analogs, in other words, using areas on Earth to simulate present or past conditions on Mars. My Ph.D. research used Cerro Negro, Nicaragua to understand how basalts weather in volcanic environments. My postdoctoral research used the Lost Jim Lava Flow, Alaska to study the interactions of lava and ground ice.
